Subject: OUR RESEARCH WORK ON H.P.LOVECRAFT IN BRAZIL

Dear Mr. Donovan K. Loucks

Good afternoon. I am not sure whether this letter will reach your hands, but I hope it does as it is of great importance for researchers, admirers and fans of the writer H.P. Lovecraft. I live in Brazil, since I know very little of the English language, this letter was written with the help of a great friend.

Being a fan, admirer and researcher of the work and life of Lovecraft I do not know if you have information about the legacy of the author in Brazil, and this is what I am here to talk about, more specifically about the www.sitelovecraft.com website. In our country there are just a few of Lovecraft’s novels translated into Portuguese, some titles can still be found in used books’ stores but many of them are out of stock. I first geot in touch with Lovecraft’s work in 2003, when I got stunned by his writings and decided to create a website to provide complete information, since other Brazilian websites about the issue were rather incomplete. It turns out that this site was developed and became a great portal with many visitors, but also fostered a web forum that started slowly – the 'lovecraftian worship' - in 'Yahoo Groups', and which today is a huge success.

The reciprocal of this site throughout its more than five years of life was immense and somehow attracted the attention of famous search engines such as "Yahoo", "Google", "Earth", among others. I was invited for interviews, debates and my name as a researcher has spread the internet in Brazil as well as in other countries where Portuguese is the mother language. Publishing contributions from doctors, teachers and students, the website is nowadays very close to the excellent work of Donavan K. Loucks with the stunning "The H.P.Lovecraft Archive”. Many were the contributions and researches which resulted in a series of new translated novels, audiobooks - greatly developed in our language - , the forum of discussion that I have mentioned before, research works of Lovecraft's bibliography in Brazil, and Master's thesis in which excerpts of this site were cited.

I humbly believe that with Donavan’s work and the site "Temple of Dagon" and HPLHS, as well as the excellent Spanish website www.hplovecraft.es , our site is amongst the best designed sites on the worldwide Internet on Lovecraft. Thus, it has also attracted the attention of intellectuals from Portugal - where HPL is hardly known - and other Internet users since this is a site that has methodology on the presentation of the e-books (quoting translation sources and keeping the same pattern), and other things that are available to the public. I know will probably not read our website because of language barriers, but considering all we have talked about it, and this is a collective effort, it would be a pleasure if you payed a visit to our website. It would also please us if, after a brief assessment of the contents, you could send us a message - that may be sent to me through e-mail - so we can publish it on the site on our next update.

This email was also sent to all the other scholars cited in this letter. May God be with you. Looking forward to your return...

- Denilson
